Fraud
Numerous fraud cases are emerging, with opportunistic individuals targeting unsuspecting victims for quick financial gain. Recently, a woman in Hyderabad was implicated in a scam amounting to ₹2.5 crores that specifically targeted car owners. The scheme involved renting cars under the guise of a rental agreement and subsequently selling them within two months.
The police closely monitored the situation and successfully dismantled the fraudulent operation. Madhapur Police reported that Jupudi Usha, a housewife from Gachibowli Telecom Nagar, partnered with Tudumula Mallesh, a driver from Shakepet Nala, in their quest for easy money through deceitful means. They rented vehicles from various sources in the city and sold them at reduced prices to individuals, identified as Sagar Patil and Jamane Anil Kumar from Karnataka, who were staying in Attapur. The cars, sold for between ₹2 lakh and ₹3 lakh each, yielded a significant profit for the duo.
Authorities have observed a rise in similar fraud cases across the city. In another incident, an individual rented a car from a rental owner in the BN Reddy Nagar area with the intention of selling it. When the affected car owner approached the police, a case was registered, and the vehicle was eventually reclaimed through the court. The car owner faced considerable challenges in recovering their vehicle.
The police recommend that rental car dealers exercise caution and not blindly trust individuals. They advise verifying the complete details of those renting vehicles to prevent future issues.
